2008 IeSF(International e-Sports Federation) Invitational in Korea
This November 2008, there will be 9 national teams from all over Europe and Asia who will represent the World E-sports field here in South Korea.
With cooperation from the newly inaugurated International Federation of E-sports, the IeSF Invitational in Korea is supported by Korea Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Kyounggido and is managed by the Korea Game Industry Agency and the Kyounggi Digital Contents Agency.
This event will be the first worldwide E-sports Olympics for National teams from all around the world.
This event will feature the one of the world's most famous games: "Warcraft3" and one of Asia's most popular FPS games: "Sudden Attack." They have been authorized as the official games of this event and we will be featuring E-sports players from 9 different countries to build an air of excitement in the match ups!
You will be able to see the present status and the future of E-sports as a global sport and gaming culture through the 2008 IeSF Invitational in Korea presented concurrently with the biggest game festival of Korea, G-STAR 2008.

2008 IeSF Invitational - WarCraft 3 Rules
1. Qualification
1) Only the 8 Players who received an Invitation from the IeSF can participate in
this tournament.
2) Only players who have never forfeited due to dishonesty in another international match
can participate.
3) If a players is under 15 years old, his parents agreement should be required to join.
2. Tournament sort
1) This competition is in a Ro8 single tournament style.
2) All matches are best of three competitions.
3. Choice of races
1) Each player should stay with the race that he had informed IeSF at the time of
the official map draw before the start of this tournament.
2) If a player If a player wants to change his race for the matches, he should inform
the judge first before playing the new race.
4. Maps
1) This tournament will use the official ladder maps.
2) The official ladder maps for this tournament are: Centaur Grove, Melting Valley,
Road to Stratholme, Secret Valley, Tidewater Glades, Echo Isle, and Terenas Stand.
3) The three maps from the seven maps for each game will be decided as follows:
- Each player can acquire priority by coin-tossing.
- The player without the priority can dismiss two maps from the original 7 maps.
- The player with priority can dismiss 2 more maps from the remaining 5 maps.
- The player without priority chooses 1 map for the first set from the three maps left.
- The player with priority can choose 1 map for set 2 from 2 maps left.
- The map that remains will be the map for set 3 automatically.
5. Basic Rules
1) The players should conduct fair play during the games.
If a player performs the following behaviors against his opponent while playing,
IeSF can decide to give proper penalties for his conduct.
- When a player harms his opponent by using insulting remarks or behaviors
- When a player manipulates games with any hack programs
- When a player use a prohibited bug on purpose
- When a player disconnect the game on purpose
- When a player prohibit games by unnecessary chatting
- Any other inappropriate behaviors as a professional player
6. Chatting
1) After the games have started, no chatting will be allowed aside from GG, GL and
other greetings. If a player doesn’t abide by this rule, judges can give him a forfeited
game.
7. Paused game
1) Under the conditions stated below, judges can pause any game.
If in the case that the judges don’t recognize a problem which may need a pause,
players can ask to pause the game by typing “ppp” or by putting his hand up
when he can’t type “ppp.” When the game pauses, both players should take their
hands off of the mouse and keyboard and wait for the judges’ decisions.
- When mouse or keyboard errors occur
- When there are technical errors, electricity failures, network errors or
other computer errors
- When a player finds his opponent’s conduct unfitting to the rules or other unfair acts.
- When bugs or other program errors occur
- Any other situations that can have effects on games.
2) When a game is paused, judges can either continue the game, ask for a rematch or
if one of players shows overwhelming superiority, the judges can decide his win.
8. Personal equipments
1) Players should use the PCs and monitors prepared by IeSF.
2) Personal keyboards, mice and headsets can be allowed.
3) No installations will allowed besides mouse drivers needed for matches. However,
if a player absolutely needs a certain program installed for the matches a judge
overrule it.
4) Players should check all lights, stage conditions, and soundproof facilities before games.
Not only will the judges help resolve but also the IeSF officials will be there to assist
any problems.
9. The version of matches
1) The tournament will use the most recent patch version available on Battle.net
at the time of the event.
