2011.03.08 Simple Q&A Q : Why does GOM keep changing casters for Code A? A : Some people have claimed we are running a 'beta' test for casters in Code A. This in a sense is true. This is the final procedure for selecting casters for Code A. We need to test them out in actual matches and see the reaction. We plan to try out few more casters over next few seasons. So if one caster stops showing up after a season it does not mean he or she is fired. It just means it's next candidate's turn for the try out. I know from my experience that everytime we make some changes people freak out but without changes there can be no improvement. Q : Why make changes so suddenly? Early notifiaction would be nice. A: I agree and it's not something we do on purpose. These candidates need to prepare and fly to Korea for the try out. It requires lot of planning on time and money. Therefore, most of the time it is uncertain until the last moment whether they can actually come and even then it is unsure on which day they will be able to cast as they need to adjust to time difference, get rest, settle the payment, practice, etc. Q : I watch GSL because of Tastosis. Why can't they cast everything? A : If you really claim you are Tastosis fan and care for them, you surely must understand they need rest. Casting 4~8 matches 6 days a week is just to stressful for anybody. They have asked us if we can hire additional casters for months and as much as we wanted to oblige, getting new global caster to Korea is not an easy process(expenses, visa, etc). I for one feel Nick and Dan deserve to rest after all their hard working and I am sure their casting will improve with such rest. Q : I know casters that are tons better than the ones casting now. Why did GOM choose these people? A : We chose the candidates among hundreds of people who applied for the job. There are many factors that need to be considered in such process. It is one thing to cast in one's private stream and another thing to cast live in front of a camera, in a different country. Therefore it is not just knowledge and speaking ability that are important. |

- 2weeks ago Dear Gom.. Love your service, and I'm very happy with my purchase, worth every cent. About the casters. I just finished watching a Wolf, Artosis cast of Code S. And in my humble opinion they are at the moment the best caster at Gom Artosis's love for starcraft and analytical mind paires so well with Wolf. I think they did an awesome job! Wolf brings out more in Artosis and Artosis brings out so much more in Wolf. Their banter is great and the casting is on a much higher level then we usually see. Wolf is not afraid of having his own opinions, and Artosis gets someone who's able to help him with his analasis of the games they cast. And I would not be disapointed to see more of them together. Tastless, I feel built the foundation other casters today stand upon. Where they are now building the new future of casting but im sad to admit, that Tasteless in my eyes havent kept on building. He is great at casting the action of the game, but it's up to Artosis to explain how and why things happen. It seems to me, Artosis has just way more knowledge about startcraft 2: HotS then his casting partner. Khaldor is an amazing caster, and I like him (although sometimes it's a little bit hard to understand everything, but i dont mind that) He devotes so much of his time to SC2 and helps the Viewers/fans get to see stuff like the Qualifiers for code A, keep it up, great job! If you'd ask me. I think Artosis and Wolf are the "Code S" of casting atm, and Tasteless has to go through some "up & down" before he can knock wolf out of "Code S." I would love to see some Artosis & Wolf cast's in Code S and Khaldor & Tasteless in Code A / Challenger League. although I realize they all have contracts and personal preferances. I'm not expecting it to happen, but it would be a pleasure to witness. Other then that.. Great job Gom, love the games, the service and the coverage! You're doing great, improving constantly. I wish you best of luck in the future, and I'll continue watching. Sincerly a Satisfied Viewer! |

- 3weeks ago Hello. I'm just hear to voice my opinion about the casters and I really do hope it doesn't fall on deaf ears.
I've been watching GSL for a very long time now. Perhaps not quite as long as SC2 has been out, but somewhere close to that. I have been a big fan of the artosis and tasteless casting combo for Code S, however over the last few months my appreciation of their casting technique has somewhat dwindled. Tastetosis, as they are often called, spend a lot of time talking about things that are extremely off topic. Though this does get tiresome, its not necessarily a bad thing in some cases. However, their tangents as of late have often gone on for far too long and some essential things that are happening in the game are neglected, Insted we have to hear about Artosis' diet and Tastelesses opinion of music. Honestly I think these guys know their stracraft and their casting very well. I think they have been doing it and doing it well for much longer than a lot of casters out there. But I think they are getting complacent. I think that they have been doing it for so long they have lost sight of what their overall job is - to cast the starcraft 2 professional match. In my opinion, I believe that they both need a wake up call from either the people that employ them, or the fans. I enjoy Khaldor and Wolf's casting ENTIRELY more than I do tastetosis simply because there are far less random tangents that happen during the game. I dont intend to badmouth, but I am becoming more and more unsatisfied with the job they are doing at Code S. Thanks for your time! |

- 3weeks ago I just wanted to post because it's usually the most negative people that shout the loudest. I love GSL and GOMTV and think all the casters are awesome to watch. I especially enjoy Tastosis because of their chemistry and humour.
Just thought I'd put some positive energy out on the net, I'm sure there are a lot of people like me that just can't be bothered to post so you only hear the bad stuff! |

The thing with Khaldor is that he tends to turn into Khaptain Obvious fairly often. I don't like being talked to as if I was a kid. On top of that, the obvious statements are fairly repetitive from a stream to the other. Somehow, I don't have the same feeling when I listen to the other casters. I don't want to pick on the man, though, I think his off-the-air personality and everything is pretty okay. I don't mind him other than this one specific issue, which leads me to not watch code A anymore. The games are already often sub-par compared to code S, so if you combine that with annoying comments, it just becomes a torture to watch. Wolf does a great job though, his analysis is usually on point, and he's got a great personality too. I completely agree |

I agree. The "off-topic" stuff kind of wears on me. I'm a fan of Starcraft and I'm paying to watch others play Starcraft. Sometimes, I get it, off-topic stuff comes up but it seems forced with Tastosis lately like "there is no combat so let's talk about Contra now". I have other complaints about the "calling gg" of games which I put in a different thread already http://www.gomtv.net/forum/view.gom?topicid=230472 . Khaldor I have no problem with and I know Americans(myself being one) tend to instantly dislike people with different accents, especially if we can stereotype their personality with it. It's obvious the guy does his homework and truly appreciates the game/scene. exactly SIGH jsut watching teh VOD in the flash v soulkey game artosis talks about flashes strats and patterns and soulkey reaction to it. IDIOT tasteless adds "thanks, nothing to add it was perfect. so, i wanted to ask again about the FLASH SUPERHERO"

- 2013.04.15 About Moletrap - I was sad to see him go. He got more hate than any other caster I've seen... but he's also the one who got me hooked on E-Sports to begin with back in brood war. I agree he didn't adjust as well as we would like to the camera and dual casters style - actually, the few times he was on a second stream, solo casting without a camera, he was really back in his element and casting like I remember. |

As for the tryouts - i havent seen the casters yet but i hope moletrap is not being considered, i hated his casting so much. |

- 2013.03.14 I think it is a good idea to listen to fan feedback regarding casters. Like him or not, I feel like Kahldor is just not the right person to be a caster. Some people (myself especially) can't stand to listen to him. Anything slightly significant happens, and he shouts like an obnoxious kid (I've tried to think of a nicer way to put this but I really can't), sometimes intentionally over what Wolf is saying. A caster shouting might not normally be so bad, but his voice has a terribly obnoxious cadence.... I also feel like it's so important to him to be right, that most of the time he only says the most obvious remarks that anyone could make about the game at the current moment, and then has this "see, I told you so" attitude when what he predicts (seconds before-hand) comes true, whereas good casters like Artosis will go out on a limb and speculate for fun even if they end up being wrong. It's as though his entire insight about the game is contained squarely on the screen everyone's watching. When a game is back and forth and he isn't sure what to do, he will even literally moan and wail... I'm not just talking about excited shouting, I'm talking about the pure moaning and wailing he does when a game is on the edge... It actually makes me uncomfortable to watch the games he casts. I imagine anytime one of his games gets shown at a barcraft most people who don't know about e-sports who hear his moaning and wailing don't get the best first impressions. That hurts e-sports. All of these things are gripes we've had with him for a long time that it doesn't look like he's tried to fix after all this time. I used to be a big fan of the gsl not just purely for the games but for the show as a production. Khaldor has made the gsl a big maybe for me. I'll maybe get a season ticket if the games look damn good half-way into the season, but I won't be trusting the production enough to get a ticket before I've made a lot of consideration about the games, and I rarely buy them anymore. His one saving grace is that he offers quite a bit of insight into the personalities of the players. Maybe he could do interviews or something, I donno, he's just not a good caster and all the things people dislike about him, he hasn't bothered to improve. He should fix the aforementioned problems or get replaced. I personally feel like it's been long enough, I'd love to see a new caster. |

- 2013.02.28 I like the off topic stuff and I really enjoy listening to Tastoasis. I think the teams work just fine. No reason to complain about anyone. But maybe the teams can be mixed up a bit for GSTL? I know that is not wanted by the casters but it might be interesting. Everything else is fine for me. |

+1 Khaldor you are awesome, dont listen to these noobs bagging you out. You + Wolf = great team. Tastetosis is for the noobs who like to listen to their review of Tv shows, movies and type of bread they had for breakfast and NOT about the GSL and starcraft in general. I challange someone to find a cast where tastetosis dont go off on stupid irrelvant tangents. last nights r08, i think on almost ALL games , 7-10 minutes pass before they payed attention to the game and just said "oh ok, now his getting a hydra den, standard" -- wtf I agree. - 2013.02.21 People shouldn't be laying into khaldor, he is a great caster and the best thing he does that other casters don't do as much is that he actually talks to all the korean pro's and lets us in on their personalities, philosophies, and how they view their careers. Also he does great research on the players before each cast and it really shows. Khaldor and Wolf are a really good duo. |

- 2013.02.21 Can we give Khaldor a bunch of time off (a couple of years?) so Wolf can cast solo? He is a million times better without him. |

- 2013.02.13 Gotta agree that Wolf is an amazing caster, both with knowledge and also a good sense of humour.
Don't like Khaldor. Nothing personal (obviously, because I don't know the guy), I just don't enjoy listening to him cast.
Moletrap was awesome, and went with Wolf really well. Wolf/Moletrap was a great team, and worked much like Artosis/Tasteless. I don't know why some people didn't like Moletrap. I think I like Wolf/Moletrap even more than Tastosis.
Also Wolf's solo casts are pretty heroic and actually very very good. I have lots of respect for him for holding the fort, shows a really good character. I think Koreans might appreciate this as well.
Tastosis is awesome as it is and shouldn't change. Tasteless is often trashed for being a "moron" or "not knowing as much about the game" but that is not true (at least now, maybe in the first few seasons it seemed that way). He sounds a bit goofy, but hes not stupid and currently has really good knowledge of the game as well. Putting Artosis and Wolf together is not a good idea, they are both good casters but casting is more than just getting the best 2 casters you can. |

- 2013.02.12 I think Wolf is the greatest caster. He spends his time talking about the game and analizing all the possible scenarios. He is right almost all the time about his predictions. I really wish he was casting Code S all the time. Him and Artosis would be amazing they wouldn't miss a thing. Tastless is entertaining but when it comes to high levels of play I would like the kind of analysis Wolf supplies. |

- 2013.02.09 I enjoy Khaldor and Wolf as casters for Code A pretty much as well as Tastosis in Code S. Very well done casting and in depth game knowledge. Interesting and entertaining to hear and watch equaly. |
