2012.08.12 having gsl go outside of korea is great but i have some problems with this decision.
1. ro8 ro4 and finals produce the best matches there can be. players get so much time to prepare it's awesome to watch players come up with insane builds and strats. having them play it all in a weekend destorys the magic gsl has. i would love to see a finals only at a foreign event like gsl did at blizzcon. players still get enough prep time but it's a treat foreign fans.
2. who is in charge of pr at ipl or gomtv. ipl is getting some serious hate from the community for how bad an event they are throwing. it's like mlg dallas / nasl s1 finals bad. and it's fair hate this event is below mediocre and other tournaments have set the bar a lot higher. so why would you release info like this at the time ipl is getting nothing but hate. its just bad pr.
gomtv i love you but please reconsider doing ro8 ro 4 at ipl5. just do the finals. since if i am correct you are also hosting another wc at ipl5. together with ipl5 it's jsut way to much content. please use word championship as content filler instead of the epic ro8 and ro4 games.

- 2012.08.14 I really don't like this decision either. Having a finals outside of Korea is great, but most of the tournament? If this will be put into one weekend I will be extremely disappointed. I like GSL for its format, because players can prepare for it and don't have to play for 8 hours a day match after match - and that's why I pay for GSL and not for other tournaments. I think that such a decision would hurt the quality of the games and thus of the whole GSL as well. |

- 2012.08.13 I think we should stop scrutinizing the decision until we know all the information at hand. IPL has only teased us with information. We don't even know how large or small the timeframe Gom will have to do ro8-finals. They might actually draw this out and make the ro8-finals a 3 week process, just like what they've been doing recently. You have to remember, in the GSLs last year, the ro8-finals all happened within a week and a half to two weeks. I'm really excited to hear more information about the GSL World Championship, it is already confirmed there will be a 5v5 team battle, I wonder if there will be a tournament. Just wait til Monday because that is when IGN is going to release information about IPL5. |

- 2012.08.12 I agree, it’s a bad idea, as it defeats the all concept of the GSL format. What make this tournament so particular and so great, is having the best player prepare for a week to play their opponent. And when you have two top players doing so, it always creates great match, with generally innovative play, rather than a good all-around strategy that are going to be play over & over again.
In addition, like it has been said before, with other Code S player already participating in IPL this season, it would put them at the disadvantage. It is like MVP vs MMA all over again, where the first one had an all-day of competition, facing different opponent and race, before doing a best of 7 at the end of the day.
And yes, IPL TAC final production was way below the standard of what you are supposed to expect. |

As a paying customer, I am upset to be paying for this. I paid for the GSL because of the players, the format, the production, and everyone else involved. It's great. Hands down the best tournament currently for SC2. Hosting three rounds of the tournament in one weekend at IPL5 hurts this great reputation you have built over the last couple years. This Code S will not feel like a Code S. In the future, when I look back on this, I will not consider whoever wins a Code S champion. They will not have had to go through as difficult as games to win it. Us viewers will almost certainly not witness games of the same caliber. When people speak of the GSL, it is agreed upon that winning Code S is as prestigious as it gets. This goes against that. I'm really at a loss for words. This is a horrible decision, and if it happens, I will extremely hesitant to buy another ticket next year because I won't know this won't happen again. PLEASE try to fix this if at all possible. |

- 2012.08.12 GOM just has to look at the thread on TL, every comment is negative. Even the ones that said something positive later changed their minds when looking through other peoples comments. Having Ro8 and Ro4 there is an awful idea and I hope GOM can reallise that. On a more positive note, good to see the World Championship come back, loved it last year! |
