- 2012.04.11 Everyone please calm down. I would like to see the actual statistics for drops when all tournament games are taken into consideration. Because this drop happened at the most critical moment in the most critical match says nothing because this drop was nothing more than bad timing. It doesnt happen enough for this to be considered a problem that blizzard needs to take into consideration.
Please dont treat this situation as a common occurence. Also, detach youselves from the match it happened in and realize this rarely rarely happens.
But, if sc2 continues to grow in popularity, and more importantly, becomes a solidifed e-sport, then Blizzard should reconsider their stance on the lan issue. This is because this type of situation will happen again in the future if you consider the laws of probability (even though, again, it will be very very rare). |

Is it possible someone could have not liked the way things were about to end and just DDoS bombed the hotel's internet connection? That seems like the worst possible thing about not having LAN. This is VERY likely. With all the MKP nerd fans out there. In a drop situation if one player clearly have a bigger army, position and momentum. Three things Parting had. He should be awarded a win. |

- 2012.04.08 LAN is not a solution at all.
We need a functionnality to restart a game from the disconnection event. A reconnection system. This will prevent from anything, even power shutdown. |

- 2012.04.08 Why are people talking about the referees?
This is soley Blizzards fault.
Even if they dont want to implement LAN there is no reason not to add a reconnect feature like other titles, namely League of Legends, are already succesfully using.
They ruined these finals. |

If MKP disconnected a minute earlier peopel would be arguing the opposite Probably. Either way, it was a shitty situation, and this GSTL finals really is quite marred due to this unfortunate situation. |

Was a no win situation for the refs. Wonder how bad the lag was in the lead up to the disconnect. MKP who had been microing like a boss all match had a very uncharacteristic moment of poor control when he got hammered by parting's drop just before the game died. He'd handled far worse situations easily all match so lag could also have been a factor there too. Would have been hard for parting to lose when the dc happened though. That. I'm sure the judges considered this factor, i guess it just wasn't announced |

Where did you see that? I might have missed it since I wasn't watching the screen the whole time. By the way, I think the fact that this happened when it did might ACTUALLY be a good thing. Mike Morhaime and Dustin Browder are both in the audience, and watched it happen firsthand. There's a very good chance that something might change with their position on LAN play. QFT, nothing gets the point across better than having the CEO of Blizz experience firsthand having a finals ruined because of their stubbornness of not including LAN :) They have to had realized by now that if they want SC2 to be a serious e-sports LAN support is mandatory. |

- 2012.04.08 (i realize i respond to a thread created by a troll.. but eh im disappointed right now)
yeah i'm sorry but this is simply not fair now. i realize it's an insanly hard call to make when one player drops out of a game and referees have to decide - especially in a finals game. but i really think everybody agrees that parting had won the game. he'd have to skrew up BADLY! to loose that. really makes mkp's victorys now pointless in my eyes.. every game i just think "this is bullshit"... and i love mkp. he's a great player and maybe the best there is right now... still.. this is a fucked up situation.
to quote the audience: "WE WANT LAN!!" |
