I think its a disgrace how you ban naniwa, its completely uncalled for and extremly dissapointing that a corporation like gom can be this stupid. In no other individual sport would you ever , ever ban someone for losing a game which has no significance whatsoever. Sc2 is not a circus, the players are not obligied to entertain the viewers. They are playing ONLY to compete, that the viewers are paying money to watch does not make it a circus. To ban naniwa for reasons like "he only likes money" is a ridicolous accusation. In a competetive comparision game like chess, if ever a top level player would "throw" a game in a big tournament even when evreone is invited to play and gains a lot of money to be there no one would care, why? Beacuse chess at least shows some proffessionalism and its not a circus like people think sc2 is.

This just shows how far gaming is from being legitimate competition. Banning naniwa is for sure gonna make me stop watching gomtv forever, i know most will still watch it, but im just outraged how unproffessionel gom is. Im sad esports have not gotten further then this. A lot of people arent competetively minded and they are the ones who like to overreact. Its a sad day for esports.

For some wierd reason this thread was 10 pages back, after other threads with much older replies. Some mod must have moved it. Wonder why ^^

Ban was totally deserved, for a simple reason.

Match fixing/rigging is bannable offense. Does anyone seriously contend that Naniwa played his best to optimize win chances in the game vs. Nestea?  No, he clearly threw the game.  If he truly believes that a 7 probe rush is viable he doesn't belong in Code S anyway, but the point is he threw the game.

What if before that day, he bet (regardless of all other results) that he would lose against Nestea?  It's still match fixing.

Also, on a personal level, he's a completely disrespectful child.

Yeah, ok, you're right.  There is no explicit rule about this.  But personally I'm Australian.  We're considered one of the most laid back cultures around.

When I saw that game my first thought was f' Naniwah, there's one less game my subscription gets me for this season and I hope they don't let this loser back in.

Anyone calling what he did a rush, or a cheese at this level of play is a moron.  There is absolutely no chance of a 7 probe rush working against zerg.  Especially if you're not even going to bother micro the fights.

He threw the game, he's a waste of time for spectators, therefore he's a waste of time for content producers.

I'm surprised they offered to let him qualify for GSL at all....  so what they decided not to give him the honorary seed, pfft...  I want to see EPIC games in Code S, not this bullshit

And sure you have a right to whine and complain, but remember, the only reason you have this medium to express your complaints is because of Gom's good graces.  There's no law binding them to provide a forum.

You must be american.

good decision by GOM! I hope this rat faced retard learned his lesson. I'm glad GOM made an example out of this guy. This is a professional sport in Korea, not like what he's used to playing in the basement of his moms house in his panties eating doritos. So, man the fuck up, learn from your mistakes, and move on!

People need to understand that this is best for Naniwa and his growth as a professional gamer... Naniwa will never learn respect for anyone but himself if he is never punished.

The only thing that is a disgrace is Naniwa.  The players in the Blizzcup were all PAID to play their games.  Naniwa crybabied his way out of it, he's a snivelling little nerd who needs to grow up and learn how to be a profressional gamer.

Its a competion not a job! Like the Olympics or World Championship in any sport. Gom give away prices not a sallary! They got 900$ for last place, not as payment for playing x games. Time to understand the diffrence.

Read more, please.
THERE IS NO RULE THAT "OBLIGATE" ANYONE TO PLAY THE BEST THEY CAN!
THERE IS NONE!
ZERO!
It's even GOMTV that told us that.
What we are saying, is that they should have warned him and then add a new rule, not punishing someone based on "korean standard of honor", because that's exactly what they did. THEY SAID IT THEMSELF!
So please, don't talk without knowing.
If you think that it is fine, good for you. But we don't, and we have the right to be angry, to boycutt, to spam their sponsors or whatever please us.

GSL promised the korean fans a revenge game for nestea against naniwa because they were so upset about nestea losing in mlg. Naniwa is being singled out because he happened to be a big thorn in the korean esports communitys self image.  Had this been stephano against drg for example, and stephano just drone rushed, im 100% sure that the punishment would be less severe.

edit: dunno why I happened to quote Xalorian there, disregard that.

Even if the game can't save the player in that tournament there's the stats and gsl points...   they're also obliged by the rules to play all games as best they can.

He decided he didn't want to play, they decided they don't have time for people who aren't going to play.

Sounds like a good decision to me, and it's obviously Naniwa doesn't take it seriously.

Why would anyone who pays for GomTV support NaNiWa's behavior? You guys really want to pay to watch games where progamers worker rush and lose on purpose? That's waste of our time and money!

We pay GOMTV to put on good games. NaNiWa doesn't pay anything. The least he could do is play the game we are paying to watch!

These players also make rediculous sums of money regardless win/lose, and sign contracts specifically about this issue. There is no rule about this in GSL. So they twisted an already existing rule than is open to WIDE interpretation.  If they had a problem, they should have made a new rule, and enforced it IN THE FUTURE once it actually existed.

Word, Gom REALY dropped the ball with this one.....

I guess you've never watched professional American football at week 17 (last week of the season) when two teams who have no impact on playoff standings still go at it no matter what and give the fans a great game to watch.
